A globally focused financial institution with active commodity trading operations is urgently seeking a Commodity Trader to join its growing Malta-based business. In this role, you will operate across multiple markets, supporting a resilient, cost-effective, and sustainable supply chain.

This is an office-based role with flexible hours, offering a salary of up to €50K plus commission and benefits.

Role & Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement and trading strategies for urea, melamine, methanol, and related chemicals

• Source and manage relationships with global suppliers, producers, and traders

• Monitor market trends, geopolitical events, and price movements to support trading decisions

• Negotiate long-term contracts and spot deals to balance cost, risk, and supply continuity

• Optimise shipping routes, freight costs, and inventory levels

• Manage risks related to pricing, supply disruption, and regulatory changes

• Ensure contracts protect the company’s interests and supply security

Education, Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience

• 3+ years’ experience in commodity trading, procurement, or chemical-related supply chain roles

• Fluency in English (C2/native level), written and spoken

• Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record of managing global supplier relationships

• Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, contracts, and compliance

• Sound commercial judgement with a results-driven mindset

• Experience preparing executive-level reports

• Strong communication skills
