JobMatchingPartner is assisting an MFSA-licensed bank based in Malta to find a Chief Operating Officer to join their team.

As a COO, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight across all core operational functions, ensuring efficient, compliant, and customer-focused service delivery.

The role is office-based, with a salary of up to €125K + an benefits package.

Role & Responsibilities

• Lead the bank’s overall operational function, ensuring effective and consistent delivery across all areas

• Ensure full compliance with MFSA requirements and applicable EU banking regulations across operations

• Support the bank’s digitalisation agenda by introducing and embedding modern technologies, automation, and digital solutions

• Develop and maintain operational plans that support the organisation’s strategic objectives

• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, regularly reviewing and enhancing processes and workflows

• Work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team on the execution of business priorities

• Oversee operational risk management, ensuring appropriate controls and business continuity measures are in place

• Encourage effective collaboration between teams to support smooth day-to-day operations

• Monitor operational performance through KPIs, reporting, and analysis to support decision-making

• Lead and support organisational change initiatives, ensuring smooth adoption of new systems and processes

Education, Skills & Experience

• Proven senior leadership experience within banking or financial services operations in Malta

• Strong understanding of MFSA requirements and EU regulatory frameworks

• Excellent communication skills in English both written and verbal

• Experience in digital transformation or operational improvement initiatives

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• Analytical mindset with the ability to improve operational performance

• Experience managing complex, regulated environments

• Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work across teams
