Chief Legal Officer - iGaming B2B
A rapidly growing games development studio within the iGaming industry is looking for a Chief Legal Officer to join their team. You will be based in Malta, in an "office-first hybrid workplace model".
The legal function has been managed externally and your job will be to lift the role in-house and set up and build the legal function & framework.
Our preferred candidate for the role has experience of working with a games-provider, as it is important to understand the complexity of contractual agreements with aggregators and operators.
We are thinking the salary for this role could be up to €150K for highly experienced candidates.
Role & Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with the executive team to align legal strategy with business objectives
Build and lead the legal function & framework from scratch
Advise senior management on all legal and regulatory matters
Provide risk assessment, analysis, and strategic legal advice to support business growth
Manage licences across multiple jurisdictions
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and contracts
Advise HR on any legal matters pertaining to employment
Liaise with external legal partners for expert advice in various regulatory jurisdictions
Ensure compliance with MGA and other relevant iGaming regulations
Education, Skills & Experience
Qualified business lawyer – EU recognised qualification required
Previous experience of managing contracts for B2B (games providers) within iGaming
Several years of experience in a senior legal role within the iGaming industry
Experience building and leading a legal team or department
Up-to-date with MGA B2B compliance regulations, and other iGaming regulatory frameworks
Experience of researching and managing licence applications for various jurisdictions
Strong understanding of risk management and compliance
Solution-driven with a proactive and strategic mindset
Confident leadership style with the ability to mentor and guide
Able to travel infrequently for business purposes
